Coaching Canvas
The Coaching Canvas is a communication tool that helps you facilitate great coaching conversations
According to Coachingcanvas.org for coaches willing to use different techniques with their clients, This tool helps you facilitate great coaching conversations. Unlike most of the current coaching models, this canvas is a physical board that let’s you interact in a dynamic and engaged way with your client.
Start by identifying what the goal of the coachee is. Why are you having this conversation with him? What does the coachee want to achieve?
Once your coachee has identified the goal for the conversation, you can move to the left quadrant of the coaching canvas: the impediments, which is actually the next step in the process. The impediments are all those things that hinder the coachee in achieving his goal. The areas of the canvas dedicated to them are to the left of the goal section.
The next step is to understand the facilitators: all factors that can help the coachee to move towards achieving his/her goal. The facilitators area is to the right of the canvas.
The action plan is the set of concrete actions that the coachee identifies he can perform from the conversation.
Each of these concrete actions should have a completion date and, if possible, a metric that helps the coachee establishing the desired standards.
