The innovation canvas helps mid-sized and big companies to analyze all important internal and external factors as well as future goals to find perfectly fitting innovation potentials.
According to Creatlr this is the first step of any ideation process, as every new idea has to fit in a chosen innovation potential to be implementable and marketable. Follow these steps if you’re going to use it:
- Start on the left to answer all questions about external factors (market, trends, customers, restrictions) and internal factors (strategy, brand values, resources).
- After, make your goals clear: Overall goals (e.g. growth), time to implement new ideas, business department for new ideas (if any specific) and area for new ideas (e.g. product, customer group, country, etc.).
- After you will have found some opportunities, write them in the middle. Look back on all the fields: What do you have? What do you miss? What can you do with your resources for the trends and customers?
